With the myriads of combinations of dinette set designs and dinette tables and chairs designs, it is quite possible that one may get overwhelmed while choosing a dinette table and chairs for your house. By the same token, one does not purchase a dinette table and chairs set every day of the week and so, it behooves that you weigh out your options that are available prior to making the choice of kitchen dinette table and chairs set for your house. In this post, we will address the option of glass top dinette sets that are available in the market today.

There are two basic options for glass top dinette sets and chairs. The first is the free standing glass top dinette table. In the free standing glass top dinette tabe, the table top is basically all glass and gets supported by one of two methods. The first method is by a pedestal mount. The second method is by a groove on a wooden frame outline. The former is more elegant, but the latter is more rigid. The former is more pricey, but the latter is a lot less expensive. The free standing pedestal mounted glass top dinette table can be used without any table top coverings, but the latter almost always needs a table top covering of some sort.

A second glass top dinette table is basically a wood top dinette table with the addition of a thick piece of glass at the top. This type of design is used in very high end dinette tables wherein the underlying table top has high quality designs, artwork and even some that have inlaid work done by hand. The glass top then simply acts as a protective layer to the underlying artwork. Some of these dinette tables can cost upwards of several thousand dollars and can be found in the kitchens of high end homes. Such dinette tables are almost always used without any kinds of table top coverings, the main goal being able to display the underlying art. Such dinette sets almost always have to have matching chairs with artwork that complements the dinette table.

The thickness of the glass top is very important to consider. You want to have a high strength, tempered thick glass for the dinette table otherwise the flimsiness of the table top will result in breakages and other damage. If you purchase glass top dinette sets by mail and have them delivered, ensure that there is sufficient insurance during transportation, because transportation damages can ruin the glass top.
